Drizzy Drake...The Nice Guy

As our last post said, Drake and Wayne were dissed by Pusha T. Ok....Drake has had a past beef with Pusha but earlier this year, Common dissed Drake and a few months later, you see Drake and Common shaking hands at a basketball game (the one that Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj were kissing at) that what looks like all of Young Money attended. Hands down, Drake is a nice guy. And it's not cause he's a punk or anything but fights and beefs just aren't his thing. He was raised by a single mother, so of course he would be more in touch with his feminine side than not. Drake's personality....is NOT violent. Drake would rather rap about love than shooting someone or saying how much of a bitch nigga someone is (something that WE all love about him). Drake hasn't responded to the Pusha T diss, unlike Lil Wayne and I don't think he will. Drake just isn't that person and to be honest, I don't think he would. He doesn't need to. Continue on your path to success and let Pusha and his few fans diss cause what he fails to forget is that his boss...is cool with Wayne and Drake. At least the last time I checked, he was...

Drake & Wayne Diss....TDF Twitter beef

I think it's safe to say that everyone knows about the Drake, Wayne & Pusha T beef. I think we can also say that there's shade coming from all over the place. The TeamDrizzyFacts page has been attacked the entire weekend because of our reaction to Pusha's diss track to Drake. To be honest, I can care less on a personal note. But when people try to tell ME why and how I feel the way I feel about Drake, it becomes 150 times more serious. I like Drake because unlike most rappers, he has more a message with each song. He sends the message that I can go hard and be from Toronto, I fall for the wrong type and not have a reason for it just like you. I don't like Drake because he's lightskin and he was on a show that I just happened to grow up with. Drake's music DOES have substance to it. And because you have a beef with who Drake is and what he raps about doesn't mean that you have a problem with me or anyone else that's a Drake fan. We have feelings and we have our reasons for standing up for Drake just like you can stand up for Pusha. All I'm saying is that this all of this has to stop. You have no idea who we are and our reasonings behind liking Drake. It's our business. Get the hell over it....

Today's Tweeted Topic: Why Doesn't Drake Get The Recognition He Deserves?

As said on the TeamDrizzyFacts Twitter, there is no real knowledge or reason why Drake doesn't get the accolades & praise he deserves from people OTHER than yours truely & TeamDrizzy. Because of that, I'm gonna break down some source of the shade.
MTV, doesn't like Drake. It's apparent. They tried to downplay his status on their Top MCs list, and one of MTV's own, comedian & New York's The Breakfast Club's DJ, Charlamnge Tha God, doesn't like Drake & admits it. He has some pull when it comes to respected & none respected MCs. MTV also wouldn't be a good home for TD because not many black artists are appreciated when it comes down to the VMAs & other various Music Television Award shows. Beyonce could be your only exception.
Another dark area for Drake fans would be THE GRAMMIES...Drake has been a grammy nominated artist before he was even a Young Money artist. Before he was even a debut rap artist. BUT Drake's album are never good enough or make the "deadline" for The Grammys. BEFORE ANYONE HAS ANY CORRECTIONS TO MAKE: You can be nominated for other things besides an album (something that Drake has done). But he's not.
BET would be an ok outlet for Drake but he doesn't really have time for them cause BET is what got him started...
To be honest & from what has been said on Twitter, TeamDrizzy really just needs to push Drake's career ourselves. People like Chris Brown & Justin Bieber have fans that have pushed their careers from YouTube to the Billboard Awards. We should do the same.

Tweeted Topics: Drake's Most Romantic Songs *Part Two*

Houstatlantavegas:

Everyone knows how I feel about Houstatlantavegas and I think everyone feels the same way. The song title is basically a state drunkenness, it's possibly about a stripper (throw your ones up in the air for her) and I think it's a place between love and a hangover. Houstatlantavegas is pure emotion and his raw voice paired with one of the best beats I've ever heard. As said on the official TeamDrizzyFacts Twitter, Houstatlantavegas is like being whisked off your feet by Drake's voice to another place by the beat of the song.  Houstatlantavegas is forever a classic. I would really enjoy it if Drake could make more songs like this...we need more cool Twitter locations.

I Get Lonely Too:

In I Get Lonely Too, Drake is admitting that hey, I get lonely too. I need some affection just as much as you do. The song is a remake from TCL's "Fanmail". It's actually word for word which is kind of surprising cause Drake pretty much took the whole song and made it better. One of my favorite things about the song is him saying 'Take me to another place where I'll be face, just you and me. With no rules. Just like you.' I like how he wants to be alone or he wants to be somewhere else with you mentally. Drake's lyrics aren't always sexual. I like how in his older songs, you have to sit down and actually listen to what he's saying. Take in all the places and words and things that go on in his head. Basically, he wants you to do that in I Get Lonely Too.

Karaoke:

Karaoke might seem like just another mid tempo song that Drake is singing but there's actually a lot more to the song than you know. The song is about his rejection from the girl that he was dating as a teen. 'She couldn't date a star', the broken hearted Drake said in an interview about the song. It's actually kind of sad. Drake raps "Isn't ironic that the girl I wanna marry is a wedding planner" which is true (the wedding planner part) Jade Lee is a wedding planner and Drake's ex girlfriend. Drake also sings about his rise to success all alone. Karaoke can be put in the same category as Fall For Your Type, a song that can make you think, cry, get drunk to, etc, etc.

A Night Off:

A Night Off...is literally sex with Drake. How romantic can that possibly get? What I enjoy mostly about the song is Drake's seductive backing vocals. I like how his voice was a little deeper and more raspy whenever he echoed something. Lloyd was....Lloyd but Drake made the whole song before it even reached 30 seconds. The song is basically Drake coming back for...'you' since you've been neglected for the studio. I wouldn't like a reunion in any other way... <3

The Real Her:

The Real Her is a keeper. One of my faves on Take Care. I enjoy the stop and go beat  but mostly, I enjoy how Drake is looking deeper into the girl and deeper into the relationship itself. There isn't much to explain when it comes to this song. I just like it. It's slow, it's romantic and it captures Drake's endearing quality in a certain light.

Something:

Something isn't a very long song and it isn't even official. It's one of the tracks off Drake's 'HeartBreak Drake' MySpace mixtapes and it's honestly something. I love how in the very beginning, Drake gets to how he's 'falling too fast' and that 'clearly rules don't apply'. It's only 2 minutes but it's one of those romantic songs that make you want someone to just say those words to you. Drake has always had simple and playful ways to say "I Love You" or "I'm Falling For You" and Something is one of those songs. It feels like a preview of Fall For Your Type because he draws back his claim of falling and says "maybe it's just nothing at all". It's nice how Drake goes back and forth from "falling too fast" to "maybe it's just nothing at all" and back to "I guess it's what we make it". I love Something. It's always been one of my favorite Drake songs.

Why Is Drake So Relatable??

Jimmy Brooks' character wall.
Drake before one of his Club Paradise shows.
Drake is mostly known as Jimmy Brooks or Wheelchair Jimmy. He's perfectly content with the phrase. But thinking about the show itself, the Degrassi franchise has always had a complex storyline. Drake, coming from a divorced (or broken) home already makes it easier for some people to understand a little of why he is the way he is. He has money, he's young and him and his dad don't have the best of relationships, of course he'd act out. But the fact that in the show, his family didn't have much time for him and he had a big heart, showed a more compassionate side of him. You would never hear Lil Wayne or Jay-Z talk about acting in a show where they had to be in a wheelchair or have an awkward hairstyle. Drake, doing the unthinkable and trying to merge into the music world is a lot to ask for when anybody will clown you for anything is something that shows....chase any dream that you think you will be good at. But regarding his music, he makes music for the heart. Drake's always singing about emotions and love and how she made him feel and how lonely he gets and if he kissed you. Drake has related to teenagers with similar parental backgrounds, best friends that get you shot and girlfriends that don't understand or know how to treat you. I know I'm all over this place with this post but bottom line, Drake's a remarkable guy. He sings, he raps, he acts. But he also makes it a point to understand us on a more personal level.

Drake Thinks About Retirement at Age 30

Drake tells i-D magazine he plans on retiring at 30

Drake's i-D Magazine interview (Audio)

The links above are the official article and audio of Drake's i-D magazine interview. Now, Drake is only CONTEMPLATING about leaving the rap game but he made some very valid points if he does. Drake said in the article that his brand now is "being young and trying to figure it all out". 30 is still somewhat young, right Drizzy? He also says that he'll return to strictly just acting if he does give up the rap game...to be honest, we've all wanted to see Drake beyond Degrassi and Young Money....I'm guessing we'll have our answer by 2017? In my honest opinion, I'm torn. I love hearing Drake, but I also enjoy watching him. He possess an incredible acting ability and it wouldn't hurt to do something else once he gets too old for rap. Another honest opinion would be for some people to think the same way Drake is thinking and hang up the mic some time soon as well. What you guys should know is that Drake is gonna stop rapping tomorrow and by this time next year, he might say something different, you never know. He's the hardest one to tame. I think I can speak for most of us and say that I fully support whatever decision Drake makes, he every talented at both. Good luck!

Rita Ora: R.I.P Remix Feat. Tinie Tempah & Drake

I love this song...I love @RitaOra & of course I love @Drake...

Tweeted Topics: Drake's Most Romantic Songs *Part One*

Best I Ever Had:

Yes, 'Best I Ever Had' is a rap song but it's also his first radio hit and it is about an ex. Scratch that, someone he was in love with at the time. And he was talking about when he made it, how life would be for him and his girl. The song also sets well with me because being one of his first radio hits, he kept surprising us. Drake is initially known for his acting abilities and was picked up by Lil Wayne for his rapping. In Best I Ever Had, Drake showed he's a singer...a good singer!! This isn't the top song on my list of MOST romantic songs, I'm really just going by the alphabet in my music selection. LOL.

Brand New:

Now 'Brand New' is much better. It's a much softer tone, its sweet, it's on and off beat (like 'The Real Her') sends you away and his pleading in the song makes you fall in love. The fact that (hypothetically) he's asking you if the relationship is going right or if anything he's doing brand new, is sweet and very modest. It's an endearing quality Drake always has and will have and capture in his music. Brand New is really one of Drake's best, most romantic songs and can go down as a classic for the rapper/singer. I love it. One of the best on So Far Gone.

Fall For Your Type (Same Mistakes):

Ok. Being honest here, I cried the first time I heard Fall For Your Type (when it was just one minute and eight-teen seconds). It's so sad because it tells a sad story because he's falling for a type that is obviously bad because....he can't explain this shit at all, right? But it's also a comforting tale because he's telling the girl to relax, have fun and they'll be fine. There's no real "break down" for the song itself (since it is technically Jamie Foxx's song and Drake just made it and did the chorus for him) but I like it better than the version they play on the radio, Jamie Foxx FEATURING Drake. Same Mistakes showed Drake's singing voice early on and it goes into the collection of his songs that show him wearing his heart out on his sleeve.  He's taking a girl's song, making it his own and then giving it to someone else and making it THEIR hit. Timeless. I fall for this song everytime I hear it.

Find Your Love:

I LOVE Find Your Love! I love how you can dance to it but it's not like those pointless dance songs other rappers make. It's like a dance ballad and people constantly say its repetitive but its still really good (hey, hey, hey). Drake said in an interview with MTV that this song was to show he takes risks. He basically stated that he took a female's song (or a song that a female should be singing) and flipped it to a male's perspective. To be honest, I wouldn't want a girl singing this after hearing Drake. Find Your Love is like apart of my top 3 favorite songs on Thank Me Later. The song is short and it gets to the point. Find Your Love is like an anthem for getting what you want...finding your love, giving your all and hoping nothing tears you apart.

Tweeted Topics: Drake's Tattoos

I haven't been one of the biggest supporters of Drake's latest (they're not recent anymore) adventures as the young millionaire that he is....his tattoos. Some would render the opinion that it's jealousy. Others would say that it's because I'm not TRUELY #TeamDrizzy. Before anyone gets ahead of themselves, I wouldn't want someone to TATTOO my face on them and two, I wouldn't be talking about it if I wasn't a real fan. But on to the topic...I've always known Drake longed for Aaliyah (1979-2001) and he's always admired her music, style and grace. But I've stated the fact that (even if they didn't make it to the alter or didn't stay married for long) Aaliyah was going to marry someone else and according to rumors (her rumored marriage to R Kelly) and facts (her TRUE engagement to rapper, Damon Dash) she liked her men older. At the time of her tragic and untimely death, Drake was only about 14. I understand the OVO tat, he's devoting himself to his team..to the brand he created for himself. Drake also stated in an interview that he has "YOLO" tatted on him. Recently, Drake has gotten Canada's CN tower and the phrase "All Kinds" tattooed on his inner left and right arms...Good luck with the tats Drake!

Yesterday's Topic: "Successful"

Yesterday, I listened to Drake & Trey Songz' hit, "Successful". While listening, I could hear the raw emotion in his rap. It was clean cut and perfect. It's obvious we don't hear this Drake anymore. We don't even hear Drake and Trey Songz together anymore. Successful showed that Drake didn't really need hardcore lyrics in order to kill the song. Drake also didn't need a heavy beat. The song itself was very simple but was extravagant as any rap song can be. I'm not saying that I don't like Drake or his style of music but "Successful" and the entire "So Far Gone" set-up, delivery and pitch was flawless. So Far Gone was by FAR Drake's best mixtape. I mean, it got him Grammy Nominations, a multi-million dollar record deal and the fame and success him and Trey longed for in the song at hand.
